The School of Basic Medical Sciences at Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine examines various issues in the mentor-mentee relationship of academic postgraduate students
such as insufficient awareness of the mentor′s primary responsibility
unbalanced mentor-student ratios
inadequate integration of educational resources
misalignment between managers and the managed
and tense mentorship relationships. The study follows postgraduate students through four distinct phases from re-examination selection to graduation and employment. It explores and constructs a new "433" comprehensive mentorship model that uses a "three-dimensional integration" approach for education
where the academic mentor leads
supported by research and industry mentors. The mentorship model has shown to foster harmonious teacher-student relationships
enhance postgraduates′ academic cultivation
professional research capabilities
and scientific practice skills. Additionally
it cultivates and guides students′ ideological
political
moral
and comprehensive qualities
thus contributing to the training of high-level innovative talents in traditional Chinese medicine who are morally and intellectually accomplished.
