Based on a case study of a dancing course at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine

and guided by the concept of medicine-dance integration as well as the ancient Chinese philosophy

we fully explored the common ground between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and dance in holistic harmony

cultivation of both physical and mental health

equal emphasis on yin and yang

and rhythmic breathing. Based on such common ground

we carried out theoretical study

and carefully designed an aesthetic education course with TCM characteristics Health Cultivation with Dance to Chinese Rhythm. Thanks to the course

students harvested not only graceful figure and good health

noble character and spirit

cultural self-confidence

but also better understanding of TCM ways of thinking and improved learning outcomes. Our research can provide reference for further exploration of effective routes of aesthetic education with TCM characteristics based on inheritance and development of fine TCM culture.
