Objectives: To explore characteristics and relationship between recovery method and social support among poor college students of different psychological health status. Methods: DSQ questionnaire

SCL-90and social support evaluation method are used to measure 302 poor students. Results: The level of psychological health among poor students is lower than that of average students in our country

but with no marked statistical difference. There is obvious difference in both defense strategy and social support among students of different psychological health levels. Immature defense strategies are more adopted by students of lower psychological health level. They tend to mark lower in getting objective support

subjective support and making use of all supports. Immature defense strategy has marked influence on psychological health. Conclusion: There is marked correlation between psychological health

defense strategy and social support among poor college students. Poor students’ psychological health can be improved from changing their immature defense strategy and building favorable social support system.
