Abstract: As the core of TCM teaching and education, TCM classics courses have played an indispensable role in cultivating students' theoretical knowledge and TCM thinking. Beijing University of Chinese Medicine conducted a survey to investigate students' study status and identify current problems in the teaching of these TCM classics. The findings show that students attach due importance to the study of TCM classics, however, there do exist the following problems: students' actual command of the TCM classics is inadequate; students are lack of interests in learning TCM classics, students' learning methods are not proper and efficient, most students have not read the original texts of TCM Classics; and they find it difficult to apply TCM classics into clinical practices. The findings indicate that the teaching of TCM classics should accommodate students in adjusting teaching content and improving teaching methods, more specifically, reinforcing the reciting and analyzing the original texts, emphasizing the application of TCM classics into clinical practices, offering more cases and stimulating students' interests.
