Abstract: Under the outbreak of COVID-19, the Ministry of Education announced the delay the opening of the spring semester and called for “non-stopping teaching and learning” with the aid of online teaching to prevent the spread of the epidemic. The new teaching mode has posed a challenge: how to fulfill the tasks of both imparting knowledge and cultivating students under the epidemic outbreak and make full use of the situations. This paper introduced the practice of online teaching of Basic Immunology and Pathogen Biology and proposed strategies of cultivating students from the following four aspects: identifying cultivating elements during COVID-19 outbreak, cultivating students' spirit of dedication by learning from anti-epidemic heroes and heroines, enhancing students' ability to apply theory into practice by adjusting teaching contents, and guiding students by strengthening teacher-student interactions. The practice and strategies may provide reference for the teaching of other TCM colleges and universities.
