Exploration and implementation of integrating ideological and political elements into the teaching of Chinese Materia Medica*

Abstract: Integration of ideological and political elements into the teaching of Chinese Materia Medica should be guided by the following teaching principles: teaching should be based on the needs of students; desirable learning outcomes are achieved by thorough and comprehensive teaching; proper cases should be provided and analyzed in depth; teaching content and teaching methods should stimulate students’ interests; emotional factors should be taken into consideration; and teaching should integrate moral values throughout. In terms of teaching content, we integrate traditional Chinese cultures, Chinese national spirits, and Chinese Dreams to expand the width and breadth of the teaching in order to embody the core socialist values. In terms of teaching methods, we employ multiple ways to enrich the teaching forms in order to integrate both ideological and political education and knowledge education. The above explorations will enhance the level of teaching comprehensively.
