Exploring practical teaching reform of pharmaceutical botany course and improving students’ ability of herb recognition in Chinese pharmacy specialty

Abstract: Pharmaceutical botany is a core basic course with strong practicality in Chinese medicine specialty. To stimulate students’ interest, the course of pharmaceutical botany has been put forth in personnel training program revision. To strengthen practical ability, traditional course of pharmaceutical botany has been divided into three courses including theory, experiment and novitiate. To promote teaching efficacy, field and object teaching methods have been set up and put into overall teaching process. The team of pharmaceutical botany course has integrated teaching resources actively, constructed curricular and extracurricular and on-campus and off-campus cultivation system for the ability of herb recognition, guided students to develop consciousness of herb recognition, and gotten initial achievements.
